Hi! My name is
____KASIA_____
Sometimes I'm too lazy to reblog so I just like posts.

Main obsessions: history of Stettin/Szczecin, art, sociology, anthropology. I'm going to post here everything I find interesting.

It is time for a fucking revolution.
If the fashion industry thrives on newness and novelty then they are failing themselves.
If you want a ‘new twist on a classic style’ I’ve got one for you.
Make a pencil skirt for someone who is 5ft 3.
Make a white shirt that will button over my breasts.
Make a shift dress that doesn’t get ‘nipped in at the waist’.
Make a pair of shoes that won’t aggravate my ankle injury.
Make a ‘nude-coloured’ dress that is dark brown.
Make your plus-sized jeans in actual denim, not some shitty stretch fabric dyed blue.
You want a fresh take on the classics?
Try making your clothes for someone who isn’t six foot tall and a size 6.
For once.
Please.

oh and also make fucking steel-toed boots under the size mens 8 1/2

Make some form-fitting shirts that are thick enough to stop our bras from showing through.
Make sensitive skin-friendly buttons and clasps so we don’t have worry about the metal making us break out in contact dermatitis (that’s a localized rash that can easily become an infection, for the uninformed).
Make a long dress that is easy to go to the bathroom in.
Make a pair of jeans that actually fit in the crotch area instead of putting us at risk of a yeast infection (No “V”).
Make more dress shoes that aren’t heels.
Put more pockets in women’s clothes.
CREATE A FUCKING UNIVERSAL SIZING SYSTEM THAT MAKES SENSE.

Amen to all.

In April, the World Health Organization issued its first-ever report tracking antimicrobial resistance worldwide, finding “alarming levels” of bacterial resistance. “This serious threat is no longer a prediction for the future, it is happening right now in every region of the world and has the potential to affect anyone, of any age, in any country,” the UN health body warned.

The reason for this is straightforward, as the companies themselves themselves admit: It simply makes no sense to pharmaceutical companies to invest an estimated $870 million (or $1.8 billion accounting for the cost of capital) per drug approved by regulators on a product that people only use a handful of times in their life when suffering from an infection, compared to investing the same amount on the development of highly profitable drugs for chronic diseases such as diabetes or cancer that patients have to take every day, often for the rest of their lives…

We see an identical situation with vaccine development. People purchase asthma drugs or insulin, for example, for decades, while vaccinations usually require only one or two doses once in a lifetime. For decades now, so many pharmaceutical companies have abandoned not just vaccine research and development but production as well, that by 2003, the US began to experience shortages of most childhood vaccines. The situation is so dire that the CDC maintains a public website tracking current vaccine shortages and delays.

An Israeli academic has claimed that raping wives and mothers of Palestinian Hamas militants is the only thing that could deter further terrorist attacks.
The remarks by renowned Middle East scholar Mordechai Kedar of Bar-Ilan University were made three weeks ago after the grim discovery of the bodies of the three kidnapped Israeli teenagers, but the recording was published online (in Hebrew) on Monday.
"The only thing that could deter a suicide bomber is knowing that if caught, his sister or his mother would be raped," said Kedar on Israel Radio Bet.
"It sounds very bad, but that’s the Middle East," he continued. "You have to understand the culture in which we live. The only thing that deters [Hamas leaders] is a threat to the connection between their heads and their shoulders."
To the shocked radio presenter who said that “we cannot take such steps, of course”, Kedar replied:
"I’m not talking about what we should or shouldn’t do. I’m talking about the facts. The only thing that deters a suicide bomber is the knowledge that if he pulls the trigger or blows himself up, his sister will be raped. That’s all. That’s the only thing that will bring him back home, in order to preserve his sister’s honor."
Kedar served for 25 years in the military intelligence, where he specialised in Islamic groups. He is currently a researcher at the right-wing Begin-Sadat Centre for Strategic Studies of Bar Ilan but previously worked for a shadowy organisation, the Israel Academia Monitor, which fights left-leaning academic professors.
(Full article at International Business Times.)

At which point do you say ‘enough is enough’ and speak out against your hard earned tax dollars being sent to/your leaders supporting this country?
Ethnic cleansing, targeting civilians, ambulances, hospitals, harvesting organs of dead Palestinians without consent, forced sterilisation of Ethiopians, land grab, apartheid wall, illegal settlements, and now incitement to rape - is it time to wake up, world?

What the hell

Everyone is always speaking out on rape culture and how much we need to stop rape from happening. I would like to see this also added to the protests.
Let’s see if y’all can signal boost this and make it big…
Because at the moment, there’s only a handful of people actually protesting this. The rest of you are only worried about yourselves…

This gave me chills.
Jack Nicholson, who played the Joker in 1989 - and who was furious he wasn’t consulted about the creepy role - offered a cryptic comment when told Ledger was dead. “Well,” Nicholson told reporters in London early Wednesday, “I warned him.”

That last quote gave me chills

Really? Interesting if true

I read something that said he told him not to do it. Joker is one of, if not the, most sadistic villains. He kills to kill. There’s no method. Which is why all of the previous portrails were campy or jokey.

There is no way you can portray a character like that and not bring home even the smallest bits of it.  It’s kind of sad. The Joker was scary as shit, and I honestly believe that getting into that character messed with his head.

It would be really interesting to see the notebook Ledger kept while working up the character, maybe it did mess with his head.. and that quote is something to think about, if true.

Heath Ledger was hugely affected by this role. Nicholson did warn him against it. To prepare, Ledger spent vast amount of time alone and kept a production diary as mentioned above. The last thing he wrote in his diary was BYE BYE. Ledger talked about his inability to fall asleep and how even with two ambien he barely slept at night. As is widely known, Ledger died of an overdose. Some say it was accidental while others believe he was a partier… The drugs he died of were meant for insonima, anxiety, pain, and a cold and none were taken in excess. Heath was a troubled man after his role as the joker, but no one can deny he played that role better than anyone ever had or ever will. The sadness of the situation aside, this is an amazing photo of the jokers.

Rare Maned Lionesses Explained

On the right is a female with a big bushy mane, from the Mombo area in the Okavango Delta. At the bottom right she is standing next to the male of the pride and you can see she is smaller with more feminine lines. Apparently the lions in this area carry a genetic disposition toward this phenomenon. More details here: http://newswatch.nationalgeographic.com/2012/10/09/weird-wild-rare-maned-lionesses-explained/

File under things that militant tumblr Vegans don’t understand or contribute to.

It’s funny to me when people assume that hunters want to “destroy all the animals” when in fact, hunters have even more reason than most to want to preserve and protect them.

a fact that if actually accomplished, should be put on a tombstone.

My favorite part is “We hope he has gone to rest.” What, like… they weren’t sure? Maybe, if ever the bear uprising should start again, he would rise from the ground to finish what he started and slay that 100th bear? Was this man so powerful they are concerned he might not have decided to rest at all and is simply biding his time?

The bears made that tombstone.
A warning, and a prayer.
